Use the spoon, not your fingers
Every jar of Majoon-e-Zafrani ships with a wooden spoon strapped to the side. It is not decorative. Fingers introduce moisture and bacteria into a preparation that is designed to keep for months, and a wet spoon does the same thing. Use the dry spoon, and return it to the outside of the jar rather than leaving it inside.
Close it properly, every time
The cork seal is what keeps air away from the aromatics. Cinnamon, cardamom and saffron lose their character to oxidation faster than anything else in the formulation, and a jar left open on a kitchen counter will taste noticeably flatter within weeks. Press the cork back in fully after each use.
Cool, dry, dark
A kitchen cupboard away from the stove is ideal. Direct sunlight degrades the botanicals and softens the base. A refrigerator is not necessary and is generally worse — condensation forms on the surface each time the jar comes out, which is exactly the moisture you are trying to keep away.
Follow the serving instructions
Take only the quantity indicated on the packaging, or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. Do not exceed the recommended serving. A traditional preparation is intended for consistent, modest daily use rather than large occasional doses.
A note on allergens
The formulation contains almonds, pistachios, pine nuts and pumpkin seeds. If you have a nut or seed allergy, this product is not suitable for you.
