A claim that cannot be checked
Walk through the herbal category in Pakistan and you will see the same phrase over and over: sixty herbs, seventy herbs, a hundred and one herbs. It sounds like abundance. What it actually does is make the product impossible to evaluate.
If a product contains sixty herbs and names five, fifty-five ingredients are unaccounted for. They might be present at meaningful proportions. They might be present at a tenth of a per cent each, which in a 150 gram jar is 0.15 grams — a quantity with no practical effect on anything. Both are truthfully described as "60+ herbs".
More ingredients is not the same as more of anything
There is a fixed amount of room in a jar. Every additional ingredient takes space from the others. A formulation with sixty botanicals in it necessarily has less of each than one with thirteen, unless the jar is bigger — and it usually is not.
Traditional Unani formulations were not built around maximising ingredient count. They were built around a small number of botanicals in proportions that made sense together, carried in a base. The long ingredient list is a marketing development, not a traditional one.
The three questions
What percentage of the jar is active botanicals, and what percentage is base? Which botanicals, by name, and at what percentage each? Do those percentages add up to one hundred?
Any product that can answer all three is telling you something real. Any product that cannot is asking you to take the ingredient count on faith. Majoon-e-Zafrani publishes all three answers on the product page, and the arithmetic is there to check.
